Concerns raised on Pakistan's poultry industry
There is growing concern in Pakistan about the plight of the poultry industry due to the recent outbreaks of bird flu which swept through Asia.
Ministry of Public Health in Mazari Sharif head minister, Dr Mirwais Rabi said the drop of poultry sales has been so severe some traders and butchers have given up on the business or forced out of the business.
Companies that had ordered large volumes of Halal poultry from Brazil before Christmas, prior to the news of the bird flu, found out that customers preferred to buy beef or mutton over poultry when the shipments arrived.
