Chinese grain firms buy 18 million tonnes of new corn
 

 

A total of 18.07 million tonnes of new corn has been bought by China's grain enterprises, with state-owned firms' purchases at 3.55 million tonnes, according to the State Grain Administration.

 

Meanwhile, the domestic grain companies had purchased 10.19 million tonnes of new non-glutinous rice and 16.28 million tonnes of mid-season and late rice by then.

 

The National Bureau of Statistics earlier said that the country's corn output reached 191.75 million tonnes in 2011, a jump of 8.2% over last year, and its rice production rose 2.6% on-year to 200.78 million tonnes.
