Russian 2012 winter grains crop seen at 40 million tonnes
In 2012, Russia is likely to gather winter grains of up to 40 million tonnes, two million tonnes higher than the average yield in the past five years, Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said.
Winter crops have been sown on an area of 16.1 million hectares (39.8 million acres), she said.
Agriculture Ministry experts believe that losses may reach 6-7% of the total winter grains harvest.
