Denmark's pig farmers get favourable EU Court ruling

A ruling concluding that two of three Danish regulations regarding pig transports are in fact illegal has been delivered by the EU Court in favour of Danish pig farmers.

These regulations include those requiring pig farmers to rebuild pig transportation vehicles to include mobile storeys and a minimum ceiling height of 100 centimetres on trucks used to transport pigs of 40-110 kilogrammes. As a result of the EU Court ruling Danish pig farmers could seek compensation from the Danish state for costs incurred and revenues lost as a result of the regulations.
