Astarta to raise milk output by 16-23% next year

Ukrainian agricultural company Astarta Agro-industrial Holding aims to increase its milk production by 16-23% or 11,000-16,000 tonnes to 80,000-85,000 tonnes in 2012.

The Kyiv-based company will use own herd to reproduce and increase the population of cattle, said company development director Mykola Kovalskyi.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Astarta unites five regional subdivisions, namely the Poltavazernoprodukt limited liability company (Poltava region), the Dovzhenko Ahrofirma limited liability company (Poltava region), the Dobrobut limited liability company (Poltava region), the Khmelnytske limited liability company (Vinnytsia region), and the Volochysk-Ahro limited liability company (Khmelnytskyi region).

The core operations of Astarta agro-industrial holding company are production of sugar (Astarta owns six sugar refineries), cultivation and sale of grain and oil crops, and production of meat and milk (more than 50 agricultural firms and a combined fodder factory).
