Phillippines' Calabarzon pig farms free of Ebola virus

The Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) has assured that the pig farms in the provinces collectively known as the Calabarzon Region, are free of the Ebola-Reston virus.

The Calabarzon region is located in southwestern Luzon.

DA regional executive director Abelardo Bragas said that the department has conducted blood tests on hogs in the farms of the five provinces and all results turned out negative for the virus.

National Meat Inspection Commission and the World Health Organisation representatives also performed examinations on the hogs in the same areas and found negative results.

The Philippine government admitted on December 10 that the Ebola-Reston virus was detected in the country.
