US milk output in November this year had reached 16.6 billion pounds, a 0.6% increase from the same month in 2014, Wisconsin Ag Connection reported.
The state with the highest milk production continues to be California with a volume of about 3.2 billion pounds. However, it was also one of the eight states with lower yearly production for the month. South Dakota registered the biggest increase for year-on-year production with 199 million pounds of milk in November. The volume represents a 13.1% spike from November 2014.
Production per cow in the US reached an average of 1,787 pounds in November, four pounds more than same period last year.
At 9.31 million head, November figures on US milk cows remained the same from October 2015, but managed an increase of 29,000 over November 2014.
