China Jan-October '08 pork exports drop 54 percent
Total pork exports from China have dropped for 62,000 tonnes or 54 percent in the first 10 months of 2008.
The main markets for China pork are Hong Kong (49,000 tonnes), Kirghizia (6,868 tonnes) and Macao (3,220 tonnes).
The earthquake on May 12 was a big blow to the pork production and the farming sector in general.
Seventy two percent of all exports were sold by private companies, while the rest by government controlled companies.
