Vietnam ascertains new swine flu strain
The Preventive Medicine Department under Vietnam's Ministry of Health says concerned agencies are observing flu patients who may be infected with the new strain of swine flu.
Concerned agencies have stepped up observation of flu patients, those with serious pneumonia symptoms and those suspected of having flu at international border gates.
They are doing so in order to discover early patients who are infected with the new strain of swine flu (S-OtrH3N2), a combination of the two subtypes of influenza A virus H1N1 and H3N2, found in pigs.
Tran Thanh Duong, Deputy Head of the department, said that no patient infected with the new strain of swine flu has currently been found in Vietnam.
