China acquires 15.75 million tonnes of new corn
China has bought 15.75 million tonnes of corn from 2011's harvest in 10 major production provinces by December 5, the statistics released by the State Grain Administration on December 13 showed.
State-owned grain enterprises bought 3.13 million tonnes of corn, accounting for 20% of the total amount.
On a related note, Northeast China's Jilin province produced 31.71 billion kilogrammes of grain so far this year, according to the vice-governor of the province.
It produced 25 billion kg of corn, four billion kg of rice and more than 500 million kg of soy and coarse cereals in the same period.
