Norway's Leroy Seafood announces PD virus detection at salmon unit

Leroy Hydrotech AS, salmon production subsidiary of Leroy Seafood Group ASA, had detected earlier this month the pancreas disease (PD) virus at one of its facilities.

This was a reason for the company to analyse fish samples from its other facilities in the region of Nordmore, which resulted in the detection of the virus at one more facility. The fish stock at this facility is some 500 tonnes with a book value of NOK27 million (US$4.5 million).

Leroy Hydrotech will discuss the issue with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, while considering a potential production closing at the affected facilities in the coming few weeks.
