Italy's nine-month soft wheat, corn imports rise

In the first nine months of 2011, soft wheat cargoes into Italy increased to 4.027 million tonnes from 3,552,051 tonnes in the same period of 2010, Italian cereals body Anacer said Wednesday (Dec 14).

Corn imports rose to 1,918,962 tonnes in the January-September period from 1,387,358 tonnes in the same period of 2010, Anacer.

Imports of durum wheat used for making pasta fell to 1,617,547 tonnes from 1,756,267 tonnes, it said.
