South Korea's domestic beef competes with US imports

High quality Korean beef are selling well in South Korea despite the competition from US beef.

Sales of high quality Korean beef, which fetches a 15-percent higher price than the usual beef, are increasing, said Lotte Mart.

US beef may be growing in popularity but it has not affected high quality Korean beef, as only the sales of Australian and standard Korean beef are reduced.

According to a retailer's comparison of meat sales from November 27 to December 11, sales of Australian beef and general Korean beef declined 16 percent and 8.3 percent, respectively, when sales of US beef resumed.
