Chinese methionine traders stand firm amid high import costs

Prices of methionine increased lately during the week ending December 13.

Volumes of imported methionine remained limited as CJ cut its supplies to China since October. Meanwhile, higher freight charges and a weak renminbi held up the costs of the imported products, hence prompting traders to lift price quotes.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine rose to the range of RMB27-28/kg.

RMB1=US$0.1449 (Dec 13)
