China's December soy imports seen at 5.4 million tonnes
China's soy imports in December are likely to reach 5.40 million tonnes, slightly lower than a forecast made a week ago, China National Grain and Oils Information Centre said Monday (Dec 12).
It also estimated the country's full-year soy imports in 2011 at 52.60 million tonnes, down 4% from 2010, the first on-year decline since 2004.
The falling soy imports were mainly resulted from shrinking profit margins of soy crushers and weakening consumption.
