Ukrainian ministry not imposing grain export quotas in 2012
Ukrainian Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food, Mykola Prysiazhniuk said that there is no need to introduce quotas on grain exports in 2012.
According to him, Ukraine has already harvested 22.5 million tonnes of wheat, of which 60%, food wheat and domestic needs make 5.5 million tonnes. "Therefore, Ukraine suffices the food grain reserves so far and there is no need for such measures. There are no threats to homeland security," Prysiazhniuk emphasised.
At the same time, he said that the application of quotas on grain exports in recent years has been justified.
