Chinese grain firms buy 12.92 million tonnes of new corn
China's grain enterprises had purchased 12.92 million tonnes of new corn by the end of November in major producing areas, with state-owned firms' purchases at 2.45 million tonnes, the State Grain Administration said.
Meanwhile, the domestic grain companies had purchased 6.55 million tonnes of new non-glutinous rice and 14.12 million tonnes of mid-season and late rice by then.
The National Bureau of Statistics earlier said that China's corn output reached 191.75 million tonnes in 2011, a jump of 8.2% over last year, and its rice production rose 2.6% on-year to 200.78 million tonnes.
