*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Global markets

In Europe, quotes for 2012 Q1 orders were unchanged at EUR3.42-3.45/kg amid reportedly weaker buying interest.

Market analysis

Both feed consumption and production shrank during November, hence decimating the demand for methionine this month. Methionine suppliers readily negotiated prices in a bid to attract buyers.

Market forecast

Prices of methionine have reduced by RMB3/kg since October. Prices should therefore fall at a slower rate despite lacklustre demand.
