Australia's beef exports to Japan fall 26 percent in November
Australia shipped 26,893 tonnes to Japan in November, down 26 percent on-year, according to the Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).
Beef exports fell 12 percent from October, with all product categories experiencing month-on-month setbacks, except for chilled grainfed beef which increased by 3 percent.
Exports of frozen grainfed beef and chilled grassfed beef fell 26 percent and 22 percent, respectively, from October.
The decline is due to the current economic slowdown, as buyers are uncertain on the future of Japan's economy, said MLA market analyst Kondo Miho.
Kondo also said storms in the northeastern state of Queensland have interrupted beef supply.
