First US DDGS enters Australia
Australia's first imported sample of US distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS), has successfully cleared inspections after arriving at the Port of Melbourne on November 25, according to the US Grains Council.
The shipment will be used in feeding trials which will be overseen by Australian feed supplier CopRice, a major supplier of feed ingredients, manufactured livestock and companion animal feeds.
According to researchers from VeraSun Energy Corporation, DDGS can be used as either energy or protein supplement and it provides energy comparable to corn from a non-starch source, eliminating risk of digestive disorders.
