Pas Reform's Smart hatchery modernises Poland's JDA

Pas Reform will fit Poland's JDA hatchery with its climate control and hatchery automation systems as the latter seeks to extend its operations.

Due for completion in the first half of 2016, this latest expansion project will bring the hatchery's total capacity to more than 45 million day old chicks per year.

Situated in the Pomeranian district of Suchy Dąb, near Gdańsk, JDA first started working with Pas Reform in 2008.

The company received training and technical support from Pas Reform Academy, and continues to work closely with Pas Reform specialists to optimise chick quality and develop its own hatching egg production programme, Wojciech Szwarc, JDA's hatchery director, said.

In its latest expansion, JDA has collaborated with Pas Reform to design its new state-of-the-art hatchery from the ground up.

Fully equipped with SmartPro™ single stage incubation, the new hatchery incorporates SmartSetPro™ setters, with Adaptive Metabolic Feedback™ (AMF™) and Energy Saving Modules (ESM™) to actively manage the incubation environment for uniform embryonic development in the setters and reduce the hatchery's energy consumption.

SmartWatch™ enabled SmartHatchPro™ hatchers to monitor continuously the hatching environment, adjust climate in response to the specific requirements of each batch of eggs, and effectively narrowing the hatch window (without human intervention) until new chicks are pulled.

JDA's new hatchery automation systems will integrate sharp-ends down precision into the egg setting line, with a vision-technology enabling SmartCount™ system for handling, counting, vaccinating and analysing day-old chicks.

Pas Reform's advanced hatchery information system, SmartCenterPro™, will monitor, manage and capture data at all levels of operations as well as 'super-connecting' incubation, climate control and hatchery automation for detailed reporting on every hatch cycle.

Innovative heat recovery and climate control systems have been devised specifically for JDA's operations, to deliver substantial energy cost savings.

Pas Reform Academy's technical team will continue to provide online support services, training and regular field visits.

"Growing demand for our product is a direct result of the quality of our day-old chicks - and with Smart technologies behind us, we are very excited about the future," said Szwarc.
