Chinese grain firms buy 10.37 million tonnes of new corn
China's grain enterprises had purchased 10.37 million tonnes of new corn by November 25 in major producing areas, with state-owned firms' purchases at 2.01 million tonnes, according to the State Grain Administration.
Meanwhile, the domestic grain companies had purchased 4.51 million tonnes of new non-glutinous rice and 12.86 million tonnes of mid-season and late rice by then.
The National Bureau of Statistics earlier said that the country's corn output reached 191.75 million tonnes in 2011, a jump of 8.2% over last year, and its rice production rose 2.6% on-year to 200.78 million tonnes.
