USDA announces Popkoff's recall of pureed chicken products

Popkoff Frozen Food is recalling about 500 pounds of frozen, pureed chicken products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, announced by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, or FSIS.

The products subject to recall include: 5-oz. single-serving cups of Blossom Foods-Dark And White Meat Chicken With Vegetables; and 5-pound bags of Blossom Foods-Dark And White Meat Chicken With Vegetables.

The products also bear the establishment number P-4966 inside the USDA mark of inspection on the packaging. The products were produced on various dates between May and November 29, 2011. They were sold to institutions in the San Francisco and Oakland, California areas.

The problem was discovered by FSIS during a routine label review at the establishment and may have resulted from a change in chicken base. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
