Norway's seafood exports rise to US$887 million in November

 

 

Norway's seafood exports in November increased by 7% on-year to almost NOK5.1 billion (US$887.4 million), the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC) said Monday (Dec 5).

 

The value of salmon exports dropped, however, for a fifth month in a row, by NOK519 million (US$90.3 million) to NOK2.5 billion (US$435.1 million). In terms of quantity, salmon exports rose by 13,011 tonnes, or 17% on-year, to 90,728 tonnes.

 

Exports of mackerel increased by NOK156 million (US$27.2 million), or 75% on-year.

 

The export of fresh wild-caught cod rose by 29% to NOK56 million (US$9.7 million). Exports of herring increased by NOK22 million (US$3.8 million), or 4% on the year.

 

In the first 11 months of 2011, exports of seafood from Norway remained flat on the year at NOK48.4 billion (US$8.4 billion).
