Argentina October soy exports at 1.1 million tonnes
Argentina's soy shipments in October totalled 1.1 million tonnes, down from 1.6 tonnes during the same month a year earlier, according to the latest data from the animal and food-inspection agency, Senasa.
October soy exports were valued at US$494 million.
Soy shipments during the first 10 months of the year totalled 11.5 million tonnes, up from 9.9 million tonnes during the same period a year ago.
China was, by far, the largest destination for soy exports, buying 9 million tonnes from January through October.
Soymeal exports in October totalled 1.1 million tonnes, down from 1.5 million tonnes a year earlier.
Soymeal exports during the first 10 months of the year reached 10.7 million tonnes, down from 11.3 million a year earlier.
Spain was the leading destination for Argentine soymeal during the first 10 months of the year, followed by the Netherlands, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Italy and South Africa.
October soy pellet and cake exports totalled 307,265 tonnes, compared with 212,062 tonnes in October 2007. Soy pellet and cake exports during the first 10 months of the year totalled 2.6 million tonnes, down from 2.7 million tonnes a year ago.
Soyoil exports in October totalled 417,180 tonnes, down from 543,821 tonnes a year earlier.
Soyoil exports during the first 10 months of the year reached 2.6 million tonnes, down from 3 million a year earlier, according to Senasa.
China was the main market for Argentine soyoil so far this year, followed by Egypt.
Argentina is the world's No. 3 soy producer and exporter behind the US and Brazil and is the leading exporter of soyoil and meal.
