Australia's beef exports fall 10 percent
            
 

Australia's beef exports in November fell 10 percent from October to 84,451 boneless tonnes.

 

Exports to Russia plunged 81 percent on-month to 713 tonnes. However, shipments to Russia in the first 11 months of 2008 totalled 71,947 tonnes, a sharp increase from 3,292 tonnes in the same period last year, according to figures issued by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

 

Shipments to Japan in November fell 12 percent on-month and dropped 26 percent on-year to 26,893 tonnes. Total exports to Japan in the first 11 months reached 332,668 tonnes, down 5.1 percent on-year.

 

Beef exports to the US climbed 5 percent on-month and surged 32 percent on-year to 29,174 tonnes. Total exports to the US in the first 11 months reached 209,400 tonnes, down 25 percent on-year.

 

Australia exported 13,935 tonnes of beef to South Korea in November, up 5.5 on-month but down 17 percent on-year. Total exports in the first 11 months fell 11 percent on-year to 117,794 tonnes.

 

Australian beef exports to Indonesia in the first 11 months rose 22 percent on-year to 30,433 tonnes, while shipments to Taiwan in the period fell 10 percent on-year to 24,323 tonnes.
