Romanian corn crop reaches 11.5 million tonnes
Romania reaped 11.5 million tonnes of corn crop this year compared to nine million tonnes last season, according to the agriculture ministry.
Romania, where around 25% of arable land is used to cultivate corn crops, produced the second largest harvest in the European Union after France last year.
"This figure is final, harvesting is now completed." A ministry official handling crop data told, adding that yields rose to about 4.4 t/ha. Romania put about 2.6 million ha under corn.
