Ukraine seeks to replant 1.5 million ha of winter grain area

 

 

Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food plans to resow 1.5 million ha of winter grain  crops in the spring, because of dry weather conditions in the autumn of 2011, said Minister Nikolai Prysiazhnyuk, on November 29.

 

In autumn 2011, Ukraine sowed winter crops throughout the areas of 8.6 million ha.

 

He added that the Ministry already works out the measures for application of additional fertilisers for winter crops areas, which will be in weakened conditions, and reducing of fuel prices. According to N. Prysiazhnyuk, winter will also make corrections to the above mentioned plans.

 

Previously, the Ministry informed that resowing areas of winter crops at the expense of spring crops areas may reach the level of 2.3 million ha.
