Serbia puts 500,000 ha for 2011 wheat
For 2011, Serbia has allocated around 500,000 hectares (ha) of land under wheat, local media said on Tuesday (Nov 29).
This acreage is more than sufficient for Serbia to meet domestic demand, which is some 1.6 million tonnes of wheat per year, said deputy farm minister Milos Milovanovic.
Serbia harvested over 2.1 million tonnes of wheat this year, of which 500,000 tonnes will be exported, Milovanovic added.
