China's 2011 wheat, rapeseed acreage to rise
China's winter wheat and rapeseed planting area this year is estimated to rise moderately over last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA).
Currently, the wheat and rapeseed planting is progressing smoothly, and the crops' germination is good.
However, as some winter wheat growing areas in north China have relatively wet soil this year, they are prone to disease or insect damage, the ministry said. The MOA also proposed measures to manage winter wheat against possible drought and pest outbreaks.
