Russia may raise 2011 poultry output to 11%

Russia's Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said Friday (Nov 25) that the country is likely to increase its poultry output up to 10.6% by yearend.

Total meat production in carcass weight will grow 4.7% (by 333,000 tonnes) to 7.5 million tonnes. Pork output will grow by more than 100,000 tonnes (4.6%), to 2.4 million tonnes.

The share of pedigree cattle in meat farming has reached 60% of all cattle in the past two years, the minister noted. The share of pedigree cattle in milk farming grew to 12.3%, or twice the 2005 level.
