Bulgaria's corn production up in recent years

In the last three years, Bulgaria's grain corn production has increased, Bulgaria's Ministry of Agriculture and Food said in a press release Monday (Nov 28).

Over 99.18% of the total area under grain corn was harvested by November 24, 2011, yielding nearly 2.072 million tonnes, which were nearly 122,000 tonnes up from 2010 and 730,000 tonnes more than in 2009.

The past three years have seen a steady increase in the total area under grain corn: 288,000 hectares in 2009, 314,000 hectares in 2010, and 376,000 hectares in 2011.
