Hong Kong to resume poultry imports from UK
Hong Kong will now allow imports of poultry from the whole of UK on the basis that bird flu is under control in the UK.
The processing of applications for importing poultry meat and poultry products from the whole UK is now back to normal, according to the Centre for Food Safety of Hong Kong on Wednesday (Nov 26, 2008).
A spokesman for the Centre said the processing of applications are resumed due to the control measures taken by Oxfordshire and Warwickshire counties, and the fact that there are no other cases bird flu reported.
In June this year, the Centre suspended import applications from Oxfordshire and Warwickshire counties following confirmation of highly pathogenic bird flu H7 cases in poultry farms.
