Finland's SRV to build soy processing plant

A soy processing plant for local Finnprotein Oy will be built by construction company SRV Yhtiot Oyj in Uusikaupunki, southwestern Finland, it said Thursday (Nov 24).

The exact value of the order was not disclosed but SRV said it was worth tens of millions of euro. The main investor is US-based Renaissance Partners LLC, which partners with a group of Finnish institutional investors.

The plant will mainly extract protein from soy for the food and feed producing industries. It will be the biggest full-range soy protein plant in Europe, SRV said.

The project covers a total 18 buildings or structures. Construction has already started and the first phase is due for completion in 2013.
