Italy's eight-month soft wheat imports rise

 

 

In the first eight months of 2011, Italian soft wheat imports increased to 3.19 million tonnes, from 3,067,400 tonnes in the same period of last year, Italian cereals body Anacer said on Thursday (Nov 24).

 

Corn imports rose to 1,846,567 tonnes in the January-August period from 1,319,733 tonnes in the same period of 2010, Anacer said.

 

Imports of durum wheat used for making pasta fell to 1,320,631 tonnes from 1,406,124 tonnes, it said.
