Russia aims to export wheat to Brazil and increase soy imports
                 

 

Russia is seeking to export as much as 2 million tonnes of wheat a year to Brazil and increase soy imports from the country.

 

According to a statement on the ministry's web site dated the next day (Nov 22, 2008) Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev said after meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Reinhold Stephanes on November 21 that they discussed the possibility of shipping Russian wheat to Brazil and increasing Russian imports of soy from Brazil to one million tonnes. The ministry of agriculture did not give a figure for the prior year.
