Ukraine's October pig population down to 8.1 million
As of November 1, the pig population of Ukraine in October slid by 0.8% or 67,100 heads, compared with September, to 8.1 million heads, the State Statistics Service has reported.
Pig population decreased by 0.6% or 25,400 heads compared with September, to 4,568,200 heads in private farms, and by 1.2% or 41,700 heads to 3,499,200 heads in specialised farms.
The pig population went down by 4.2% or 356,800 heads against November 1, 2010.
Specifically, pig population fell by 6.5% or 242,500 heads in specialised farms, and by 2.4% or 114,300 heads in private farms.
Earlier in September, the pig population increased by 0.4% or 32,200 heads compared with August, to 8,134,500 heads as of October 1.
