BRF acquires US$67.7-million dairy plant

Brazil's BRF Brasil Foods has reached an agreement with local group Vencedor to buy 100% of its dairy facility for BRL122.5 million (US$67.7 million).

Heloísa Indústria e Comércio de Produtos Lácteos Ltda is based in the city of Terenos in the midwestern Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, BRF said Friday (Nov 18).

The facility, which produces cheese, has a processing capacity of 600,000 litres of milk per day, BRF said.

BRF was created in 2009 from the merger of local meat processors Perdigão and Sadia. In July, Brazil's top antitrust regulator Cade told the company to sell part of its assets and brands.
