Germany's pork exports hit new record
Germany's pork exports are estimated to be at 1.8 million tonnes, indicating a sharp increase of 20 percent, according to German market institute ZMP.
German pork exports have been growing rapidly this year due to rising global demand, said ZMP, adding that recent export agreements are also supporting export growth.
Russia and China/Hong Kong have been marked as the key export markets where pork demand is high. Exports to Eastern Europe have also seen an improvement.
In addition, Germany is projected to import 1.2 million tonnes this year, slightly more than in 2007.
