Italy's poultry meat production rose 2% to 1,221,700 tonnes in 2010, according to data by the Italian farmers' confederation.

A total 180,000 people worked in the poultry farming sector which made sales of EUR4.5 billion (US$6.1 billion), including EUR3.2 billion (US$4.3 billion) from the meat and EUR1.3 billion (US$1.8 billion) from eggs.

Exports rose 25.6% in 2010.
