US beef widens presence in South Korea
The US continues to widen the presence of US beef in South Korea, as the Asian nation becomes the largest importer of US beef in September, said Yonhap News Agency on Wednesday (November 19, 2008).
The US exported 16,642 tonnes of beef, valued at US$89.24 million, to South Korea in September. The amount represented 28 percent of total US beef shipments during the month, according to a USDA report.
Mexico was the second largest US beef importer in September, and Canada was third.
South Korea lifted bans over US beef imports in June.
