Philippines removes import tariff on wheat for 6 months
Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has ordered the exemption of wheat import duty for six months to drive down the price of animal feed.
In separate executive orders released Wednesday, (November 19), she said the removal of the 7 percent tariff on wheat for feed would take effect 30 days after those orders are published in a few days.
Arroyo said the exemption of duty on feed wheat imports will help lower the cost of animal feed and help stabilize the prices of poultry and livestock products.
