Argentina to reopen beef markets
Argentina is keen to reopen certain foreign beef markets to increase exports.
Argentine President Christina Fernandez de Kirchner was in Algiers on Monday (November 17, 2008) and she discussed the market for beef in Algeria.
Algeria was Argentina's key beef market until Russia enters the picture seven years ago. Algeria has been importing beef from Uruguay since, but Algeria is looking attractive with the recent lull in the Russian market.
Fernandez is travelling on to Libya and Tunisia, also in hopes of reopening both markets for Argentine beef.
