World wheat output to remain flat in 2012
Global wheat output likely to stay flat in 2012 at 682.6 million tonnes, against 683.3 million in 2011 this year, US analyst Agresource said on Wednesday (Nov 16).
In his first forecast for the 2012 wheat crop, AgReource director Dan Basse pegged the EU crop at 135.4 million tonnes, the Russian one at 57 million tonnes, the US at 56.1 million and Ukraine at 18.5 million. The analyst expected the global corn crop to rise to 872 million tonnes next year, up from 859 million in 2011, due notably to a 13.9% jump in the US crop.
