Western Australia grain harvest reaches 1 million tonnes

Western Australia's grain handler says, after a slow start, the harvest in Western Australia has reached 1 million tonnes.

Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH) says most of the grain has been harvested in the Geraldton zone as southern growers have been delayed by late rains.

Michael Musgrave from CBH says some growers in the great southern will be forced to continue harvesting into the new year.

He said that a lot of growers like to get done by Christmas, but this has been a little bit of a frustrating time given the extensive falls across the state.

He did add that looking at the weather models, things could get on back on track in coming weeks.
