Aviagen North America pledges support for Auburn University's Poultry Research and Education Center

Aviagen North America recently pledged financial support for the Auburn University’s (Auburn, Alabama, the United States) Charles C. Miller Jr. Poultry Research and Education Center.

The amount will be contributed in equal yearly installments spread over five years, earmarked mainly for:

    - Financial assistance for the ongoing operation of the Miller Center as a premier poultry education center;

    - Endowed Professorship to recognise and support the highly qualified professors who will educate the next generation of poultry specialists;

    - Fellowship awarded annually to an incoming or existing Auburn University graduate student to help prepare them for a lifetime of success in their careers and their contribution to the industry.

Both Aviagen and Auburn representatives agree that the work done at the Miller Poultry Research and Education Center is important to the future of the poultry industry, as well as to the ability to help create a better future for the world.

"We are delighted to be able to contribute to the center, helping to further the important work that takes place there. Their research and innovation are vital to the sustainability of our industry, and we share the center's mission to drive improvement that continually advances the industry and our ability to feed our ever-growing local and global communities with an affordable, nutritious source of protein," said Marc de Beer, president of Aviagen North America.

Dr. William Dozier, head of Auburn University's Department of Poultry Science, added: "We appreciate Aviagen's support and the company's commitment to research and educating our future poultry industry leaders. Aviagen's contribution will help our department pursue research that addresses pressing industry needs and improve the final product that consumers bring into their homes.

"At Auburn, our goal is to help prepare our students to learn in an environment where production meets education. What they learn during their time with us will ensure that their work impacts lives around the globe."
