Argentina's 2011-12 corn yield to hit highest level

President of the Buenos Aires Cereals Exchange, Ernesto Crinigan, said Tuesday (Nov 15) that Argentina is on its way to grow a record 24-25 million tonnes of corn throughout the 2011-12 season.

Argentina is the World's No. 2 corn exporter. Corn planting is in full swing right now and conditions are good after recent showers.

Argentina's other major grain market, the Rosario Grain Exchange, has forecast corn production at 26 million tonnes this season.

The forecasts only include commercial corn, not corn grown for animal feed and used at the same farm where it was grown.

Estimates for Argentina's 2011-12 crop production in million of hectares or millions of tonnes.
