Russian milk producers given subsidies by government
Russia's Agriculture Ministry has offered to give RUB15 billion (US$490 million) per year in subsidies to domestic milk producers in the fall and winter periods starting from 2013.
The offer will gradually increase to RUB20 billion (US$660 million) by 2020, according to Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said Friday (Nov 11).
The proposal was submitted to the Economic Development Ministry, Skrynnik said.
Russia's milk output rose 2.5% over the past five years, she added without providing exact figures.
