Railway company Kazakhstan increases grain exports


During 10 months of 2008, Kazakhstan's national railway company, "Kazakhstan temir jolu" shipped 198.8 million tonnes of cargos.


The figure was given by Ermek Kisatov, vice-president of development of the company on November 11, 2008.


The company increased shipment volumes as compared to 2007 due to rise of grain and derived products shipment.


They shipped 6.7 million tonnes of grain in the 10 months period of 2008, up 3.1 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.


At the same time, Kazakhstan consumers received over 2.26 million tonnes, increment of 4.4 percent and foreign consumers received 4.43 million tonnes, up 2.5 percent.


Kazakhstan (the country) is the largest grain producer in Central Asia, and ranked sixth worldwide.
