Jiangsu Yurun Food Group started the construction of its new hog slaughtering and processing factory in Bashi, Shihezi area, Xinjiang province on November 3. 

The project, with a capital of RMB250 million(US$36.61), is scheduled to complete by end 2009. Upon completion, the factory has the capacity to process one million hogs annually, out of which a quarter will be supplied to Yurun Food Group. The annual income is estimated at RMB1,500 million (US$219.676).

It is a joint venture between Xinjiang's Production and Construction Corps of the Army in Bashi, Shihezi and Yurun Food Group.

In his speech, Lee Yahong, Deputy CEO of Yurun Food Group said that the slaughtering cum processing house would help establish Shihezi area to be a centre of hog husbandry in the region. The factory would also enhance the development of Beiquan Industrial Park and boost other related industries including hog breeding, feed production, food packaging, logistics and other related services.
